- He has been a recipient of one of the Certificates of Merit for All-Round Excellence from The Telegraph School Awards for Excellence.
Extracurriculars
Ekalavya Chaudhuri has been the Cultural Coordinator of his Prefectorial Batch at the school Bhavan's Gangabux Kanoria Vidyamandir, Salt Lake, Kolkata, in 2013. On the board of the issue of his school magazine 'Ripples' for the year 2013, he was a lead student editor. He has had a range of interests in extracurricular activities in his school and college days, most notably theatre, debate and quizzing. As a result of pursuing his interests, he has won a number of accolades at various times in these during his school and subsequently college and university career. A selection is as follows:
- A panel of three judges voted Chaudhuri Best Actor at the Statesman Voices Festival 'Vibes', 2012, an event which he participated in during his schooldays.
- He was awarded Best Actor, also while at school, at the theatrical event 'Bosco Impact' at the fest Boscofest 2013 held at the school Don Bosco Park Circus, Kolkata.
- He was a member of the cast of a school team that placed second in the District Science Drama Competition of Kolkata and qualified to go on to represent Kolkata at the West Bengal Science Drama Competition, a state level event.
- While at school, he was winner of the School Quizzer of the Year title at Kolkata Quiz Festival 2014.
- Also in his schooldays, he won The Telegraph in Schools Quiz Crossword.
- While at school he was also among the members of the First team at St James’ School’s Jaco Iz.
- In his schooldays, Chaudhuri was a fan and follower of the Scripps National Spelling Bee, and thus had a keen interest in spelling bees. He won the American Center Spelling Bee on July 19, 2012 and qualified as West Bengal champion for the Finals. In the Grand Finals he placed second.
- He was awarded a Special Mention at the Calcutta Boys School Assembly of Nations 2013.
- He was Outstanding Delegate at the La Martiniere Calcutta Model United Nations 2014.
- He was Best Delegate at Calcutta International School MUN 2015.

- At school at Bhavan’s, he also won English elocution events such as at the Rotary Club of Kolkata. In addition, he had also scripted plays.

Ekalavya Chaudhuri has presented papers and presentations at a number of conferences, most notably at the academic institutions of Jadavpur University and Presidency University.
- On the 23rd of July 2015, Chaudhuri presented the paper ‘(Re)reading Ghosh: Manipulation of Space in Amitav Ghosh’s Shadow Lines’ at an International Students’ Conference on the works of Amitav Ghosh held at the Department of English, Jadavpur University,
- On 25th March 2015, he presented an essay ‘The Will to Performance in King Lear and The Last Lear’ at the Professor Debabrata Mukherjee Memorial Annual Students’ Seminar 2015 on “Literature in English to Indian Cinema” held for the students of the university at The Centre of Advanced Study, Department of English, Jadavpur University.
- On 18th November, 2015, he presented the paper ‘Old English in the Novels of JRR Tolkien’ at a seminar on Old English and Middle English held at the Department of English, Jadavpur University. The seminar was of the inter university level, and saw participation from students from the English departments of various other reputed national universities such as Delhi University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, and the University of Hyderabad.
- On 10th February 2016, Chaudhuri was co-presenter on the article ‘The Romantic Malady: Tuberculosis in Jane Eyre and Meghe Dhaka Tara’ at the Professor Debabrata Mukherjee Memorial Annual Students’ Seminar 2016, on “Aesthetics of Affliction: Illness in Literary Imagination”. The seminar was organized by the Centre of Advanced Study, Department of English, Jadavpur University.
- On 1 April 2019, Chaudhuri was a co-presenter of the presentation ‘While We Waited: Conceptions of Heroism in Crime and Punishment in the context of 19th century Russia’ at the Graduate Student Conference on Fyodor Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment delivered at the Department of English, Presidency University.
Projects
- Through 4 months in 2018, Ekalavya Chaudhuri has worked on a project to curate and document commercial medical content. The said content involved resources listed and available on various commercial internet websites which might be utilized by the family caretakers as well as professional caregivers of senior citizens suffering from psychic ailments. Such ailments included, for example, mental disorders, dementia, and Alzheimer’s.
- Chaudhuri has led the web blog team for, and volunteered as part of the organising committee at, the international conference "Nineteenth Century Synergies: Ventures at Home and (Ad)Ventures Abroad". It was organised on 22nd, 23rd and 24th March 2018 at Presidency University, Kolkata, by the Department of English. He was responsible for generating popular interest in the conference. As a part of the work, Chaudhuri had a number of duties:
- Coordination and communication with academics from the US and UK.
- Communicated with several varied institutes and departments to circulate marketing material and invite audiences for the conference.
- Co-handled the conference’s social media, releasing posts, images and updates to engage and achieve an audience.
- Devised an advertising campaign for the audience.
- Created marketing material in the form of posters, forms and certificates which were circulated to an international audience.
- Chaudhuri has been involved in marketing and publicity operations for the play FM Mahanagar by the professional theatre troupe Storyteller. The play ran an approximate twenty shows at Gyan Manch and the Academy of Fine Arts, 2015-2016. The overall duties saw him perform some specific charges:
- Co-handled play’s social media, releasing posts, photographs and updates to engage and achieve an audience.
- Coordination and communication with teams of 4/5 students from various institutes who were responsible for ticket sales and distribution.
- He was member of a team that drafted a document advocating key core recommendations to improve the existent classification system of the Calcutta Research Group Library, Kolkata. This was done to increase scope as well as to better attract patrons. As part of this work he devised a plan to rejig the library's extant categorisation procedure.
- He has worked on the implementation of a project to tutor slum children under the aegis of the organisation ALOK, which he was associated with during his schooldays.
- Chaudhuri has cofounded a platform for young Performance Poetry talent and as a part of his work handled coordinations with 20+ performers and 80+ attendees for a state level event.
- He has been Secretary General of his school's model united nations event, BhavMUN, in the edition of it held in 2013. In the capacity of Secretary General he:
a) Handled communications with sponsors.
b) Oversaw overall publicity for the event, covered it for a newspaper article and supervised the social media marketing.
c) Was involved in coordination and communication with academics and participants in order to make the event a success.
d) Devised an advertising campaign and in addition gave inputs to other parallel ad campaigns for the event.
Prior Work Experience
Ekalavya Chaudhuri has been a Summer Associate with McKinsey & Company advising a client in the BFSI space on Strategy and Implementation for the duration of his summer internship at IIM Ahmedabad in 2022.
He has previously performed industry research and content creation for the purposes of internal research work and corporate blogging for the company Knonn Technology Services Limited for a period of four months. He has also acted as Research Assistant to Professor Paula Banerjee.

He is also the author, with Professor Paula Banerjee, of 'The perpetual exceptions to rights: Rohingya in India', published in The Routledge Handbook of Refugees in India.
